makes me wish i lived in the early 00s. thirty year olds in the comments were saying things about missing being a teen. i enjoy feeling this secondhand nostalgia.
there’s also something about the lyrics that kind of haunts me. the vocalist of the vines has this inexplicable aura to him that instantly reminded me of fukase satoshi. the way he sings the uplifting chorus while looking into the camera with his dead, soul-piercing eyes. it’s adorable, eccentric, fragile. it hits harder when i realize the band hasn’t been active in years.
(i swear it’s not only because the guy recommened the song over a radio show. i don’t sense this special aura in the majority of people.)
this comment made my heart throb in a strange, melancholy way.

oh and that transition to the chorus at the end is one of the best musical compositions I’ve heard in a while.
lyrics:
The winning days are gone
Because I know just where I’m seein’
Was givin’ as I know
I can hear
‘Cause underneath, there’s gold
I need to get around to find it
And when I wanna go
I can dream
I’ve been tryin’
All my time
I’m just seein’ it rise
‘Cause it could be the land that’s over me
So, I just wanna let it breathe for now
Get up and go outside
It can help your mind too
Get up, don’t hide away
‘Cause I know where they go (get up and go outside)
I’ve seen you down when I was flyin’ (it can help your mind too)
I’m sinkin’ like a stone (get up, don’t hide away)
I can’t breathe
I’ve been tryin’
